Alcoholism is an Issue

Often times perception is what truly matters. It doesn’t matter what the facts are, if you see them differently.  Alcoholism is one of these issues of perception. Many people seem to think that it isn’t a drug. But that is only perception. You may never change their mind. But the people who have lost love ones to alcoholism have a different perception. To them alcoholism is just a deadly form of drug addiction. Just as deadly as cocaine or crystal meth. What is more important than the perception though, is the outcome.

Alcohol is legal, and so it must be safe. That is the sort of thinking that stems from a poor perception. Unfortunately that perception will likely remain until something in an alcoholics life, usually a tragedy, forces a change in perception. Take time to look in the mirror. Are you the same person today that you were before you started drinking? Do you ever do things you regret? Things you wouldn’t do if you were sober.

These are a few little questions you can ask yourself. They might just shake your perception enough. They could get you to see that you need help to overcome alcoholism. With the readily available access to alcohol it can’t be defeated through will power alone. Can will power keep you from going into restaurants; nearly everyone serves alcohol. Can will power keep you from driving down the street; if the first corner you turn doesn’t have a liquor store, the second one will.

Don’t let your perception keep you from recovery. The perception you don’t have a problem is wrong. The perception that you can overcome it on your own is wrong. Call us, we can help you defeat alcoholism. We have substance abuse treatment facilities that are capable of helping all alcoholics.
